Making plushies is my passion. It is like sculpting but more difficult because the figure
is formed from flat pieces. Plushie making is a mixture of many art forms and that is why
it is so interesting and challenging. A plushie is not only a piece art which can be watched.
A plushie can also be touched, hugged and loved.
I concentrate on making realistic animal plushies. I use high-quality faux fur fabrics and
different paints to paint details on the plushies to make them look extremely life-like.
My plushies´ eyes are clear plastic eyes which I paint myself with acrylic paints. This
way the eye colour of a plushie can be fully customized. Whiskers of my plushies are made
from fishing-line. The stuffing is 100% polyester.
I make all my patterns myself and I also sew myself. All plushies are hand-made one-of-a-kind
collectibles. I can make any animal in any size and any colour. Because my plushies are fully
custom-made a commissioner can affect everything in the process.
Please see my gallery of finished plushies.
I offer two different kinds of plushies, regular plushies and mini plushies.
~Painted details
To make a plushie realistic-looking I paint details on the faux fur. Painting is the last
part of making a plushie. I use acrylic paints and Indian ink (black details).
It is possible to fully customize the colour of a plushie. This happens by making the plushie
from white fabric and painting all the colours. Please note that I don´t know how to ”dye”
faux fur. I can only paint a finished plushie.
Important: Painting always makes the fur to lose some of its softness. If you want a very
huggable and soft plushie which is nice to touch I don´t recommend heavy painting.
~Washability
It is a fact that faux fur is extremely hard to paint and dye because it is a synthetic fabric.
My tails and plushies resist water but never put them in a washing machine. Wash plushies
and tails carefully by hand in cold water with very little soap.
Please note: I have never tried washing a finished plushie myself. I have only done experiments
with painted fur scraps.
